What is the community solar credit and charge on my NYSEG bill?

Last updated 2025-09-04 · View original

Soon after your share of a community solar farm begins producing energy, you begin receiving solar credits on your monthly electric bills. A discounted charge for the credit is also applied to your bill.

Each credit is applied as a deduction and you pay for each credit at your fixed discounted rate - this way, you still save on your electric costs!

On your NYSEG bill, your credit will appear in the "Miscellaneous Charges" section, as shown in the sample bill below. You'll see your credit labeled as "CDG Value Stack Credit." In the same section, you'll see your discounted charge for the credit labeled as "CDG Subscription Fee." The difference between your credit and the charge is your net savings!

The net savings appears in the "Consolidated Account Summary" section in the line item "NYSEG Miscellaneous Charges," as shown below.
