STAFF POSITION

  • Title: Head of Sales
  • Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
  • Term:  90-day provisional period, with opportunity to transition to permanent staff. 
  • Position overview:  Solstice is expanding and it is looking for someone to lead its community outreach team.  The primary tasks of the Head of Sales will be to identify and implement new opportunities to accelerate consumer adoption of community solar, oversee and manage staff and fellows, establish and measure staff-level and organization level KPIs related to outreach, develop a go-to-market strategy for outreach, provide strategic input on business decisions, refine outreach strategy, build relationships with key channel partners and other stakeholders, and consistently monitor market research to identify new opportunities. This position will report to the President.
  • Qualifications: 
    • At least 5 years’ professional experience in outbound sales and marketing
    • Previous professional experience with start-up organizations and/or clean energy and/or social enterprises
    • Experience managing sales and/or marketing operations and staff
    • Ability to articulate Solstice’s value proposition to key stakeholders with passion and energy
    • Knowledge of and relationships with key stakeholders in the state of Massachusetts and regionally
    • Ability and willingness to travel on a frequent basis
    • Willingness to work evenings and weekends
    • Access to a car
    • Extraordinary attention to detail, highly-motivated, creative, proactive, team-oriented, self-starting and eager to work outside of an office setting.

  • Title: Technical Lead
  • Compensation: Equity and stipend
  • Term: 90-day provisional period, with opportunity to transition to permanent staff. 
  • Position overview:  Solstice is expanding its service offerings through the creation of a digital platform that will seamlessly manage all of the customer-facing activities in the community solar space: customer outreach and onboarding, utility integration, account management, and consumer engagement.  The primary task of the Technical Lead will be to develop the strategy around platform development, including designing the product roadmap and eventually managing a team.
  • Responsibilities will include: 
    • Work closely with business team to understand requirements
    • Define appropriate software architecture based on requirements and design elements
    • Integrate internal and external product design into a cohesive user experience
    • Craft strategy and schedule for platform development, including build vs. buy decisions and recruitment and hiring of in-house and/or offshore software development and QA teams
    • Lead engineering team to deliver product on time and according to specifications
    • Maintain and advance software architecture based on evolving system requirements and industry trends and technologies
  • Qualifications: 
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or related field
    • At least 5-7 years of professional experience as lead architect or engineering manager
    • Experience building consumer applications and/or CRM/SaaS platforms
    • Expertise in Node.js, Express, React, Redux
    • Amenable to the demands of a start-up environment, such as long and variable work hours, tight deadlines, and limited supervision
    • Extraordinary attention to detail, creative, personable, enthusiastic, proactive, team-oriented
    • Previous experience with building and managing teams
    • Passion for renewable energy

  • Title: Community Outreach Coordinator - NY
  • Compensation: Base stipend plus commission-based incentives
  • Term: 90-day contract, with opportunity to transition to permanent staff
  • Time commitment: Full-time
  • Location: New York
  • Position overview: In anticipation of rapid organizational growth in the months ahead, we are looking for highly-motivated individuals to expand our organization's community outreach capabilities. The position is a results-oriented role with significant opportunity for professional growth and autonomy.
  • Responsibilities will include:
    • Designing and executing a data-driven sales strategy directed at helping New York households adopt solar energy
    • Conducting outreach to and building relationships with community organizations, including households of worship, workplaces, community centers, schools, and service organizations
    • Interfacing with community leaders and stakeholders to help their networks switch to solar
    • Conducting outreach to build awareness among New York households interested in solar power
    • Supporting monitoring of progress to sales goals
  • Qualifications: 
    • Previous professional experience in community organizing and/or outbound sales.  Previous sales or political campaign experience preferred, as is a comfort with public engagement.
    • Ability to articulate Solstice’s value proposition to households and communities with passion and energy
    • Knowledge of/relationships with community organizations in the state of New York
    • Ability and willingness to travel on a frequent basis
    • Willingness to work evenings and weekends
    • Access to a car
    • Extraordinary attention to detail, highly-motivated, creative, proactive, team-oriented, self-starting and eager to work outside of an office setting
