Community solar has the potential to rapidly deliver low-cost clean energy to communities while helping reduce carbon emissions in the power sector. While community solar does pose challenges for utilities, both utilities and developers must find a way to collaborate and streamline all aspects of community solar from interconnection to billing.
Solstice co-founder and CEO Steph Speirs adds that state policy efforts should stress ways to increase services to low-income subscribers, currently estimated to only be 1-2% percent of subscribers.
