STAFF POSITION

  • Title: Head of Sales
  • Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
  • Term:  90-day provisional period, with opportunity to transition to permanent staff. 
  • Position overview:  Solstice is expanding and it is looking for someone to lead its community outreach team.  The primary tasks of the Head of Sales will be to identify and implement new opportunities to accelerate consumer adoption of community solar, oversee and manage staff and fellows, establish and measure staff-level and organization level KPIs related to outreach, develop a go-to-market strategy for outreach, provide strategic input on business decisions, refine outreach strategy, build relationships with key channel partners and other stakeholders, and consistently monitor market research to identify new opportunities. This position will report to the President.
  • Qualifications: 
    • At least 5 years’ professional experience in outbound sales and marketing
    • Previous professional experience with start-up organizations and/or clean energy and/or social enterprises
    • Experience managing sales and/or marketing operations and staff
    • Ability to articulate Solstice’s value proposition to key stakeholders with passion and energy
    • Knowledge of and relationships with key stakeholders in the state of Massachusetts and regionally
    • Ability and willingness to travel on a frequent basis
    • Willingness to work evenings and weekends
    • Access to a car
    • Extraordinary attention to detail, highly-motivated, creative, proactive, team-oriented, self-starting and eager to work outside of an office setting.

  • Title: UI Architect
  • Compensation: Equity and stipend
  • Term: 90-day provisional period, with opportunity to transition to permanent staff. 
  • Position overview:  Solstice is developing a web-based solar marketplace and customer engagement platform, which will serve a community solar developer’s customer-facing needs while also providing a channel for customers to learn about their community solar options, enroll, and engage with their solar garden. We are looking for a “design-geneer” to lead UIUX/front-end design and contribute to the overall development effort.
  • Responsibilities will include: 
    • Work with business teams to understand solar developer and customer end user requirements
    • Lead all aspects of design and UIUX to create a cohesive user experience
    • Collaborate with lead engineer on development efforts, taking a lead on front-end
    • Craft project management strategy and lead product development in concert with lead engineer
    • Maintain and advance digital platform based on evolving system requirements, industry trends, and technologies
  • Qualifications: 
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or related field
    • At least 5 years of professional experience as lead architect
    • Expertise in React/Redux UI; familiarity with node.js
    • Experience in building consumer applications and/or CRM/SaaS platforms
    • Aptitude for and interest in being a product owner
    • Amenable to the demands of a start-up environment, such as long and variable work hours, tight deadlines, and limited supervision
    • Extraordinary attention to detail, creative, personable, enthusiastic, proactive, team-oriented
    • Previous experience with building and managing teams
    • Passion for renewable energy

  • Title: Community Outreach Coordinator - NY
  • Compensation: Base stipend plus commission-based incentives
  • Term: 90-day contract, with opportunity to transition to permanent staff
  • Time commitment: Full-time
  • Location: New York
  • Position overview: In anticipation of rapid organizational growth in the months ahead, we are looking for highly-motivated individuals to expand our organization's community outreach capabilities. The position is a results-oriented role with significant opportunity for professional growth and autonomy.
  • Responsibilities will include:
    • Designing and executing a data-driven sales strategy directed at helping New York households adopt solar energy
    • Conducting outreach to and building relationships with community organizations, including households of worship, workplaces, community centers, schools, and service organizations
    • Interfacing with community leaders and stakeholders to help their networks switch to solar
    • Conducting outreach to build awareness among New York households interested in solar power
    • Supporting monitoring of progress to sales goals
  • Qualifications: 
    • Previous professional experience in community organizing and/or outbound sales.  Previous sales or political campaign experience preferred, as is a comfort with public engagement.
    • Ability to articulate Solstice’s value proposition to households and communities with passion and energy
    • Knowledge of/relationships with community organizations in the state of New York
    • Ability and willingness to travel on a frequent basis
    • Willingness to work evenings and weekends
    • Access to a car

In addition, Solstice is looking for motivated, self-directed individuals who are willing to give time to help us expand access to solar power in America. Currently, we are seeking specialists in design, programming, marketing, and outreach.

  • Compensation: Volunteer
  • Term: Part-time or full-time

  • Responsibilities will include:
    • Learn to communicate the Solstice mission across multiple channels: Content, PR, Social Media, Email, PPC, and more.
    • Connect with our current and future customers via social media. You will see how we grow, nurture, and engage our community (Twitter & Facebook) and make decisions about future channels - should we be on Snapchat?
    • Work closely with the executive and marketing team to further research, define, and refine, customer preferences and engagement strategies.
    • Conduct research on consumer insights and competitive brands.
    • Create dynamic marketing collateral for online media channels.
  • Qualifications:
    • A degree (or in-progress degree) in Marketing or related fields.
    • Experience (or strong interest) in advertising, media, and communications.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate effectively.
    • Strong computer skills, with design experience in Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
    • 20 hours a week to contribute to this program (full-time preferred)
