STAFF POSITIONs

Title: UI Architect
Compensation: Equity and stipend
Term: 90-day provisional period, with opportunity to transition to permanent staff. 
Position overview:  Solstice is developing a web-based solar marketplace and customer engagement platform, which will serve a community solar developer’s customer-facing needs while also providing a channel for customers to learn about their community solar options, enroll, and engage with their solar garden. We are looking for a “design-geneer” to lead UIUX/front-end design and contribute to the overall development effort. 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Work with business teams to understand solar developer and customer end user requirements
  • Lead all aspects of design and UIUX to create a cohesive user experience
  • Collaborate with lead engineer on development efforts, taking a lead on front-end
  • Craft project management strategy and lead product development in concert with lead engineer
  • Maintain and advance digital platform based on evolving system requirements, industry trends, and technologies

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or related field
  • At least 5 years of professional experience as lead architect
  • Expertise in React/Redux UI; familiarity with node.js
  • Experience in building consumer applications and/or CRM/SaaS platforms
  • Aptitude for and interest in being a product owner
  • Amenable to the demands of a start-up environment, such as long and variable work hours, tight deadlines, and limited supervision
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, creative, personable, enthusiastic, proactive, team-oriented
  • Previous experience with building and managing teams

Title: Community Outreach Coordinator - NY
Compensation: Base stipend plus commission-based incentives
Term: 90-day contract, with opportunity to transition to permanent staff
Time commitment: Full-time
Location: New York
Position overview: In anticipation of rapid organizational growth in the months ahead, we are looking for highly-motivated individuals to expand our organization's community outreach capabilities. The position is a results-oriented role with significant opportunity for professional growth and autonomy.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and executing a data-driven sales strategy directed at helping New York households adopt solar energy
  • Conducting outreach to and building relationships with community organizations, including households of worship, workplaces, community centers, schools, and service organizations
  • Interfacing with community leaders and stakeholders to help their networks switch to solar
  • Conducting outreach to build awareness among New York households interested in solar power
  • Supporting monitoring of progress to sales goals

Qualifications: 

  • Previous professional experience in community organizing and/or outbound sales.  Previous sales or political campaign experience preferred, as is a comfort with public engagement.
  • Ability to articulate Solstice’s value proposition to households and communities with passion and energy
  • Knowledge of/relationships with community organizations in the state of New York
  • Ability and willingness to travel on a frequent basis
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends
  • Access to a car

Fellowship Opportunities

Title: Operations Fellow
Compensation: $500/month part-time (20 hours); $1,000/month full-time (40 hours)
Term: Part-time or Full-time
Position overview: Work hand-in-glove with our CEO to coordinate administrative duties and office procedures for Solstice. Your role is to arrange logistics and conduct research on a variety of topics that ensures the smooth running of the office and helps to improve company day-to-day operation. You will learn from all departments of the company, and you will help on all aspects of the CEO’s work, from fundraising to sales/marketing to recruiting/onboarding new staff to building culture. Previous experience as an office manager or researcher would be an advantage, and candidates that are highly organized and detail-oriented are encouraged to apply. We’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to dive right in, willing to learn on the fly, and eager to contribute wherever needed.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist on all operational and administrative tasks at the company
  • Conduct research on funders, new markets, and potential business partners
  • Coordinate executive communications
  • Arrange logistics for team culture events
  • Attend CEO meetings and take notes, organize follow-up tasks
  • Maintain an organized tracking system for research and tasks
  • Scheduling meetings and sending agendas on behalf of CEO/management
  • Data entry of important company contacts

As an Operations Fellow you will gain:

Title: Outreach Fellow
Compensation: $500/month part-time (20 hours); $1,000/month full-time (40 hours)
Term: Part-time or Full-time
Position overview: Are you looking for on the ground startup and sales experience helping a company grow from 100 to 1000+ customers? If so, then the Outreach Fellow position at Solstice is for you! The Outreach Fellow will be responsible for supporting the entire outreach team and their sales efforts geared towards engaging with communities and households, and signing people up to join community solar projects. We’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to dive right in, willing to learn on the fly, and eager to contribute wherever needed.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Fully understanding the community solar market, the Solstice customer profile, Solstice value proposition and messaging
  • Assisting team with sales research on new projects. This includes pulling data sets and analyzing metrics, identifying key businesses & organizations
  • Tracking and pulling together KPI statistics for team
  • Attending all team meetings and taking notes on behalf of team
  • Communicating our value proposition to potential customers over the phone and via email

As an Outreach Fellow you will gain:

  • A full understanding of sales processes and fundamentals, including market & lead research, cold calling, consultative sales, pipeline management, KPI tracking, and email campaign sequencing
  • A deep understanding of the solar and renewables energy space
  • Hands on startup experience in cleantech
  • Knowledge from and personal interaction with the company’s management team

Qualifications:

  • A degree (or pursuing a degree) in business, environmental studies or related fields
  • Experience (or strong interest) in sales, marketing, communications, or advocacy
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate effectively
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Excel (Salesforce a plus)
  • Minimum 20 hours a week to contribute to this program (Full-time preferred)

Title: Content Marketing Fellow
Compensation: Volunteer
Term: Part-time or full-time
Position overview: Do you want to be a masterful writer who can create top-notch content? Then your place is with our growing team at Solstice. From day one of the fellowship, you will be responsible for learning who the Solstice customer is, and create engaging content for all stages of the customer lifecycle. This includes various types of downloadable content, ebooks, videos, blog posts, social media posts and emails that will expand our company’s digital footprint, awareness, subscribers, and leads. This role requires a high level of creativity, attention to detail, a self-starter attitude, and project management skills.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Create copy for brand content across various social platforms & web: Content, PR, Social Media, Email, PPC, and more.  
  • Work within the organization to develop category specific content to support the education and engagement of our online consumers.
  • Ability to utilize editorial background with marketing experience to create, improve and optimize digital and social content.
  • Support creative team across many different projects.
  • Bonus: Work on the video projects, including video shooting, editing, and cutting, of the company to support marketing and brand building.

Qualifications:

  • A degree (or in-progress degree) in Marketing, English, Journalism or related fields.
  • Experience in advertising, media, and communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate effectively.
  • 20 hours a week to contribute to this program (full-time preferred)
