Community Solar is a program that allows Illinois residents like you to reserve a portion of a shared solar farm in your neighborhood. The solar farm sends clean energy to your utility company. You receive solar credits on your electric bills for the power your portion of the solar farm produced, and get charged for those credits at a discount, locking in monthly savings. Your lights turn on as always, just like normal. There is no installation, extra costs, or downtime - just a discount in exchange for supporting local solar.
We are partnering with Solstice to ensure that everyone in our community can lock in electric bill savings and support clean energy. Solstice administers community solar farms, making it easy for users to sign up online and receive energy credits that are guaranteed to lower their electricity bill. Solstice is reserving space for Huntley 158 residents and businesses until 5/30, at which point spots may be filled and you may be placed on a waitlist.
As a benefit for hosting a community solar project in Huntley, everyone in Huntley 158 has exclusive access to Solstice community solar projects through 5/30. All community members can join a farm with a 10% discount rate. Income-eligible residents can earn up to a 20% discount.
You'll want a copy of your electric bill handy so that Solstice can connect your electric account to a solar farm. If you wish to receive the 20% discount, you will be asked to provide documentation of your household income. Otherwise, with some basic info you should be all signed up in a few minutes!
