Forrest Watkins

Forrest has been writing about and photographing impacts of climate change and the energy transition for three years, and is leveraging that experience to help tell the Solstice story.

He graduated from Whitman College in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology (BBMB) and Spanish, spent a year teaching English in China through Princeton in Asia, and then set off on a world bicycle tour aimed at understanding and documenting local impacts of climate change and the energy transition.

In his two years on the road, he saw first-hand the inequality inherent in our current energy systems. He believes that renewable technologies, distributed and non-polluting, can change that, but only if we build better institutions to support them--and that includes businesses like Solstice.
